LADY HOUSTON’S DESIRE TO HELP THE COUNTRY.

(Received 10 2.30 p.m.) London, Nov. 15. In the House of Commons Mr Winston Churchill stated that L-idy Houston had presented the Exchequer with £1,500,000 as an act of grace, not admitting any legal liability. He had accepted the sum which was offered spontaneously from fiie desire to help the finances of the country. He could not at present reveal what the sum would be if legal liability were proved.
