H.B. HOSPITAL BOARD. RELIEF WORKS SUBSIDY REFUSED. The District Engineer of Public Works advised the H.B. Hospital Board yesterday that within the meaning of the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board could not be granted a subsidy for relief works carried ’out at the Hastings Hospital grounds. “Very hard, isn’t it, when we are trying t/ ; find labour lor the unemployed.” said the chairman. Ah. Btes (secretary): We have to go through tho Local Loans Board when we want to dw anything. I can’t see how We can he a local body in and not in another. Ow Mr. Maddison’s suggestion it was decided to place the whole position before Mr. John Mason, M.P.
