STOOD DOWN

DISCHARGE FROM BANKRUPTCY. A SOLICITOR'S APPLICATION. Christchurch, Nov. 14. Herbert Kirk McDougall, solicitor, applied to Mr. Justice Adams to-day for a discharge from bankruptcy. The application was opposed by Mr P. S. Oliver, who claimed that he had been engaged by McDougall as a trainer of racehorses and had not received wages. The defence to the claim was that Oliver was not employed as trainer for wages but was a partner in the ownership of the horses. His Honour said he thought it very undesirable that a practicing solicitor, especially when his finances were in such a state as McDougall’s, should be mixed up in such things. The application was stood down until the next sitting of the court.
