HAWKE'S BAY COUNCIL-

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Council Council was held in Napier to-day. Present:—Councillors T. E. Crosse (chairman), W. Tucker T. Mason Chambers G. K. Beamish. W. Turner N. P. triksen F. B. Logan and V. Barry. Leave of absence was granted to Crs H. M. Campbell M.P. and C. C. Smith. ' - '

The District Highways Council advised that it could not pay th e full subsidy on the Waimarama road widening work.—Left in the hands of Cr. Chambers to confer with <Mr Thompson, Engineer of Public Works. A further letter was received from the council stating that it would subsidise plans of Main Highways.—K«ceived.

The Public Works Department advised that a subsidy of £242 10s had been noted for the Pouarua 'bridge, while the proposals for the metalling of the Tutira—Pahakura road had been approved.—Beceived. The Hastings Borough Council wrote asking the Council to assist in the cost of establishing a meteorologi cal station at Hastings.—Beferred to the chairman and Cr Chambers with power to act. The Hawke's Bay Automobile Association wrote asking that a creek crossing at Tangoio be improved.— It was decided that steps be taken to have the work done provided the estimates were reasonable.

The Napier 30.000 Club wrote asking if the council would give a road access to the White Pine Bush Reserve.—The matter would be considered once a plan of what was required w'as submitted. /

The Bailway Department wrote forwarding a plan of tne proposed curve casement of the railway near Farndon.—Beceived.

The Napier Harbour Board wrote regretting that it could not alter its decision regarding a site for sanitary works at Wcstshore.—Received.

A complaint regarding the dangerous way a motor cycle was ridden through Pukahu was referred to the police to deal with. • GENERAL. ■ " . i The attention of a dangerous road corner near Paki Paki was referred to Cr. H. M. Campbell with power to act. The Clive Amateur Athletic Club was granted permission to peg out a running and cycling track on Farndon Park.
