H.B. RADIO SOCIETY.
CONCERT IN HASTINGS.
The attendance of the public at the radio concert, submitted at Nelson Park, Hastings, by the Hawke’s Bay Radio Society on Saturday night was disappointing, in view of the excellence of the programme and the society’s object to raise money for the purchase of a wireless set for the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Certainly the weather was not very inviting and a large number of people were engaged in their weekly shop, ping, this might to an extent explain the position.
The public present, however, thoroughly enjoyed the reproductions and the Panatrope, which is an instrument which amplifies a gramophone, from five valves, through a loud speaker, was quite a novelty which delighted the people.
The collection resulted in a return of £5 1/6. The society may hold another concert soon.
