An unusually dense tog covered the north-eastern coast of the United States from northern New Jersey to Boston, Shipping in New York harbour is jisrupted, the fog being so thick that observers at Ambrose lighthouse are unable to see even the silhouettes of the four ocean liners which are due. it is presumed they have dropped anchor in the outskirts. Many river vessels have anchored and tue New York femes are either greatly delayed or not operating, the latter including that to the Statue of Liberty. A ferry boat. operating between Brooklyn and New fork bumped into a barge, causing intense excitement among the 3UO passengers, but there were no injuries. Another ferry boat was swept upriver by the tide and narrowly averted crashing on to the sea wall. —(A. and N.Z.)
