Hori Turia was found guilty of bigamy and ordered by Mr. Justice MacGregor to come up for sentence if called on within two years and ordered to pay £2O towards the cdst* of the prosecution. His Honour issued u warning to Uaoris generally regarding bigamous marriages. The accused, he said, had evidently been influenced by some other person to go through a -econd form of marriage. It had been suggested that Ratana followers up the river had been advising Maoris that the only proper form of marriage was through their church.
