RULES TO BE OBSERVED BY EXHIBITORS.
1. The competition will lie open for nil Stock, provided the exhibitor be a member of the Society. 2. Members exhibit free if their subscriptions fur the current year, and all arrears of subscription, are paid up. Nonmembers can exhibit "-Carriage and Hack Horses on payment of 10s 6d ; mid 2s 6d will qualify to exhibit Farm Produce, Implements, &c, &c. 3. No competitor will be allowed to allow more than iliree lots of Sheep in one class, and it shall not be competent to enter any Stuck in more than one class. 4. The name, residence, and district of the exhibitor; the breed of the animal he-intends to exhibit; 'he name of the breeder if known ; the pedigree of Stock so far as known ; and of Sheep, the date of shtaring; also, of two-toothed Sheep when lambed, if known, must be given in to the Secretary, with entry, two ehardays previous to the Show, or he will not he allowed to compete. No Sheep will be eligible for a prize which has more than twelve months' growth of wool, except Hoggets. If any doubts arise as to the correctness of the declaration of any exhibitor, such exhibitor shall not be entitled to any prize which may he awarded to him or her, until the committee shall have satisfactory proof (hat the declaration is correct; and any member having made a false deelnrat on shall be subject to all or any of the following penalties:—Forfeiture of'prizes, non-permission to exhibit again, and expulsion from the Society. 5. Medals will be awarded to the owners of first and second Prize Stock, breeders and owner's names to be engraved on the medals. 6. That ail Stock exhibited shall be bona fide the property of the exhibitor or his principal. 7. A ticket or order will be delivered by the Secretary on or before the day of the Show to the persons in charge of each lot, for its being received into the Showyards ; and no Stock whatever can be allowed to enter without such an or.ler. 8. The competing Stock will be classed and distinguished by tickets o. numbers, to be affixed to each lot immediately after they are placed in tho Show-yards. 9. The Committee will appoint skilful persons as Judges,.who, in forming their opinion, will particularly attend to the instructions to be delivered for their guidance. 10. After examining (he Stock, &<:., and deciding on its merits, the Judges shall sign and jiive in their reports (o the Committee, and their award shall he final, provided no objection is made against the prize animals' right to compete in their respective classes. 11. No change can,"under any ciicumstances, be made in the general regulations of the Society for agricultural meetings and general shows of live stock, so, far as competitors are interested, unless regularly submitted and. approved at a meeting of the Committee, and duly intimated to competitors. 12. Should the Secretary for the time being intend to exhibit '.'lock at their Show, he shall be required to forward to the Chairman of the Committee a sealed description of the same, naming the class or classes in which he intends lo exhibit them, at least three clear days previous to the Show, which is not to be opened until one dear d*y before the Show. 13 The Committee will nominate on the Show-day two Stewards (not competitors) to accompany the Judges, to prevent interference during the examination of the Stock. 14. All uersnns intending to exhibit extra Stock must intimate to the Secretary, and describe the Stoek, at least two clear days previous to the Show. 15. Stock which cannot, bo shown in any competing class may he exhibited as extra Slock. 16. Any animal eligible to bo shown for a class premium cannot he shown or classed as extra Stock. 17. Persons intending to exhibit, Implements of Husbandry, Machinery adapted to agriculture (made or not made in the colony), Pools, Seeds, &e., must communicate with the Secretary, and lodge with him a description of the articles to be shown, together with a written report of the growth and culture of the Roo'.s and Seeds, not later than the day previous to the Show. INSTRUCTIONS TO JUDGES. 1. Upon their arrival at tiie place fixed for the Show, the Judges will not enter the] Show-yard until it is intimated to them that all arrangements preparatory to their proceeding to view the Stock are completed. 2. Without enquiry as to the names or places of Exhibitors, the Judges aro lo determine by reference to the number affixed to each lot by the Secretary. 3. The Secretary is understood to have satisfied the Committee of the regularity and correctness of the different classes before granting the tickets to enter the Show-yard for exhibition, and the Judges, therefore, must proceed on that evidence without reference lo any other person ; they will state, however, for the information of the Committee, if any of the Stock, in tlie'r opinion, docs not come within the regulations prescribed for the competition, so that such further enquiry may be made as the Committee may deem necessary. 4. The Judges will not only enter those animals in their report entitled to the premiums, but also the others in each class which they may consider most worthy of notice. 5. [n forming their judgment, the Judges will have regard to the symmetry, early maturity, si/.", and general qualities characteristic of the different herds of which they have to judge, making due allowance for age, feeding, and circutnKtances peculiar to the cases which come before them. 6. In no ease should a premium bo adjudged unless the Judges shall deem the lot to have sufficient merit, more especially if one lot only is presented for any of the prizes. 7. Having formed (his opinion, the Judges shall sign and deliver (heir report; and having so done,they are not afterwards to propose any change. In the event of a difference of opinion, that of the majority shall he conclusive. When the signed report is delivered over to the Committee (he duty of the Judges shall cease, and it will d jvolve on the Cemmitteo finally to award the premiums,
