WAIPAWA.
[FROM A CORRESPONDENT.] 25th September, The cricket season has commenced hero. Six new members have joined the Club, and if I am not mistaken, Waipawa will he able to place in the field an eleven able to cope with any in the Province. Moreover, if the Australian Eleven should visit the Province, they will find the Waipawa Twenty-two able and willing to “ lamb them down,”—providing their terms are easy. I may add that a very interesting single-wicket match is to be played here on Wednesday next, between four lefthanded players and four right-handed, play to commence at 2 o’clock. The following are their names Left-handed : W. Haisent, M. Collet, J. Hammond, Allen. Right-handed: Dr. Sanders, captain, T. N. Cass, W. Smith, Dew. Umpires, Messrs Baker and Wood. Three to two is offered in favor of left hands.
