MELBOURNE. 21st August, Markets very dull, and business has received a check, pending the result of the budget. Sugars, especially yel lows, sola at advance, Flour and grain very dull—milling oats, held at 5/3. 180 guineas were paid for a single sheep yesterday. LONDON. 15th August. The money market is easier, aud the Bank of England reserve stronger. ICth August. Discount, three per cent. 18th August. The Colonial wool sales opened this evening. Out of 200,000 bales catalogued, upwards of 5,000 bales were offered. The attendance of home and foreign buyers was large, and the bidding commenced with great spirit. The closing rates of last sales were well maintained. 22nd August. At the wool sales, the competition was well maintained, and prices continue very firm. . The corn market has experienced a considerable fall. 25th August. At the wool sales, competition continues extremely vigorous, and the prices show a renewal of advance, compared with the previous sales of-/J to -/I.J. Foregin arrivals of wheat are abundant, and prices have fallen. At sales of the new wheat yesterday, purchases were made reluctantly at a reduction of Is. 27th August. An advance of from -/Id to -/2d has taken place on scoured wool; greasy is unaltered ; lambs' sclliug well.
