Southern Cross, Capt. F. Holmes, arrived in thejroadstead from Auckland on Friday afternoon and entered the Pot on Sunday. The brigantine Enterprise arrived from the East Coast on Friday, and left for Wellington the nest day. The R.M.S. Cyphrenes, Capt. Wood, arrived from Kandavau and Auckland on Saturday at 11.45 a.m., and left for Wellington and the South at 1.15 p.m. same day. The s.s. Pretty Jane arrived from Poverty Bay and Auckland yesterday morning. The fine ship "Winchester, Arnold, master, came in sight early on Sunday, and anchored off the town in the afternoon, having made the passage from Gravesend in 85 days, or 75 days from land to land. The weather was favorable during the voyage ; and there had been ne sickness on board. She brings 432 immigrants, of a very respectable class. There were two deaths (children), and no births on the voyage. The brig Maggie sailed for Newcastle last evening. The Peeress arrived on Thursday at Lyttelton, 118 days from Gravesend, with 164 statute adults, all of whom are for Timaru. There were six deaths and four births on the voyage. The passengers were forwarded to their destination per Comerang, on the following day. The ship Sam Mendel arrived at Port Chalmers on Friday, 70 days out from London, bringing 371 passengers. The s.s. Otago, Captain M'Lean, arrived at the Bluff at 11 p.m. on Wednesday last) with 96 passengers, 340 tons of cargo, and five horses for all ports. She left Melbourne on the 15th instant, and experienced heavy •weather on the passage. She had to be hoveto for ten hours near the Solander Islands, and was afterwards obliged to seek shelter in Dusky Sound, remaining there fourteen hours, the weather being terrific. The ship Militiades, 80 days from London, arrived in Auckland on Friday, with 470 immigrants. The owner of the Lady Bowen, Auckland, has preferred a claim of £12,000 against her for salvage. The ship Maria Bhan, from Glasgow, with immigrants, arrived at the Heads, Port Chalmers, on Friday night, and was towed up the next day. The Rangatira arrived at Wellington ou Saturday morning. The schooner Fiery Cross left Wellington for this port on Saturday. The Paterson.—lt has been found that, -as the cargo is got out of this vessel, she floats, and shows that the damage done is a great deal le3s than was anticipated. It is expected that she will be floated off without difficulty. The whole gear of the vessel, consisting of sails, anchors, chains, steering wheel, ropes, three boats, saloon furniture, cooking utensils, &c, was to be sold at Wai'tara by auction, yesterday at II a,m,

The N.Z.S.S. Company.—An adjourned meeting of this Company was held in Wellington on Saturday afternoon, but Mr Brandon, on whose motion the last adjournment took place, did not appear, and the motion of which notice had been given, protesting against the sale of the Company's fleet, was allowed to lapse. The steamers, therefore, will he sold, as.advertized, on the 31st instant. Supposed Wreck.—A Melbourne telegram states that Captain Duncan, of the barque Palace, from Raugaroa, reports seeing a light ashore at Sister Island, Bass's Straits, and conjectures it to have been made by castaways from some wrecked vessels. The steamer Albion arrived at Melbourne on the morning of the 15th instant. Suez Mails. A Melbourne telegram says :—lt is likely the Suez mails will be delivered in New Zealand before the California again this.month, as the Pera is expected here on the 24th or 25th instant.
