A large line of hops was sold privately at ■l6. Ist July. The new . Colonial Bank.—Upwards of 5,000 shares have been taken up in the Colonial Bank. It is expected that the whole number of 20,000 will be taken up, as they are applied for freely in the country districts, more especially in Wanganui. The Times Company.— At a recent meeting of the directors of the New Zealand Times Company, a, number of unallotted shares which remained were withdrawn, and taken up among the directors. DUNEDIN. Ist July.. The new Colonial Bank.—There were 12,000 shares applied for in the new Colonial Bank on the 29th June, which makes a total of over one hundred thousand applied for in Otago alone. LONDON. 20th June. The failures are reported of Suelgrove, Mark Laue merchant, and of a Belfast linen manufacturing firm, of nearly a million. Wool continues firm.
