HE System of Education comprises L Instruction in the Greek, Latin French, and English Languages, with special reference to Translations from English into each of these Languages, and to the Orthography, Writing from Dictation, Composition, and Grammatical Structure of the English Language, Mathematics, Arithmetic, Writing, and Bookkeeping, Ancient and Modern History, Geography, and Elocution ; with Lectures on such branches of Literature and Science as the Head Master may at anytime think fit to introduce for the benefit of the Pupils. A Solid foundation, thoroughly and properly laid, being so essential to a boy's advancement in the School, and to his future educational progress, a Juvenile Class, under the eye and superintendence of the Head Master, is carefully taught, and, from day, to day, prepared by one of the Assistant Masters, for the higher work of the school. The following extract is from the annual Report of the Directors of the School (May, 1874) : " Your Directors have much pleasure in noticing that during the year the Napier Grammar School has given an evidence of the placo it occupies in the Educational Institutions of the Colony. Out of eight subjects in the last Civil Service Examination, the candidates from this school were placed on the first class in five, viz. : Latin, French, Arithmetic, Algebra,'and Geometry. They regard this as a good indication of what may be expected from it in the future." The duties of the School will be resumed on MONDAY, the ,6th July.
