GISBUBNB. Recent Sales.—Messrs Robertson and Co., report several sales lately. On Friday the stock in trade of Mr Dalziell's store business was submitted to auction, but found little favor on account of paucity of buyers. At the Land Sale on Saturday there was a fair attendance. Town sections fetched from £7 to £l6 10s each and Suburban Section No. 102 was knocked down at £2B. Subsequently an altercation arose between the auctioneer and a purchaser as to the validity of the sale of some of the sections, owing to a misunderstanding as to the conditions of sale. The present aspect of the difference iindicates a final appeal to the arbitrament rcf the law. A number of books were sold -afterwards, /realizing remarkably good prices. At the weekly horse sale, the prices ranged groin'£6 to #1?, 'M> notmuch inquiry,— -Staiidard, .28th April. 0 T a a 0. 'S&le tf Property "and Stpok.—The; !fcake Wakatipu Mail,.7th April, reports:— 1 Mr B. Ballenstcin having announced his intention ofselling <fais stock pievious to re-J, moval from the district, a large concourse of •- people attended the sale, on the 4th insfc/ yhurlby Domain was crowded, and the at-;

fondants had enough to do to minister to the inner wants of the numerous buyers and visitors who made this sale'a scene of animation. The lady buyers were numerous, ,and one,, keen purchaser made it pretty hot fdr the gentlemen in the milch cow line. The luncheon attracted, of course, a good deal of attention. It was worthy of Thurlby Domain. Refreshments were also freely provided during the day to those who came. Nearly twelve months ago we described this farm, and therefore it is unnecessary to reenter upon a description again. It was a very pleasant day at first, and everything looked attractive. All was in "apple-pie" order. The rain that fell during the afternoon had for a short period a depressing influence, but that soon wore off, and bidders keenly competed for the various lots. Mr D. Powell, as auctioneer, read out very liberal conditions of sale, offering to take four months' bills from purchasers without interest, or to allow 2& per cent discount for cash under £SO, or agree to arrangements purchasers could make. These terms lent animation to the sale. The stock to be sold was duly dilated upou, and extracts from journals read, showing the value of the sheep and other stock. The sheep came out from the well-known flocks of the Few Zealand (Southland) Land Compauy. Buyers were eager to purchase, but caution in the sheep line was nevertheless a prominent feature. The heavy rental prices paid recently for the Wakatipu runs made their effects apparent. Buyers wanted good sheep. That was evident ; but the fear that a four mouths' bill would not be grace enough, or some other cause, led to the feeling of caution we have mentioned. Mr Spence's (the managers) selection nevertheless brought fair prices. The ewes .mixed in draughts of ten, about 255, three-quarter bred; some pure Leicesters (ewes), up to £4 ; rams, three-quarter tofullbved, £2 to £7 ; one prime lamb was sold at £5 ss, and was dirt cheap at that. Cows and horses brought good prices, and darkness alone stopped the sale on Saturday. Yesterday it>was resumed. The sheep, we think, did not sell at full value ; the horse and cattle stock did.
