Chrisp, arrived from Mercury Bay on Sunday, with 60,000 feet timber for the quarantine buildings on Parks' Island.. The s.s. Rangatira, Capt. J. Griffiths) arrived from Wellington at 11.30 on Sunday night, and steamed for Poverty Bay at 4.20 p.m. yesterday. The s.s. Star of the South, Captain W. Farquhar, left Auckland at 5 p.m. on Friday, rounded the East Cape at 10.30 on Saturday night, and arrived off Poverty Bay at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Stayed a few minutes to land passengers, and then proceeded on her voyage, arriviug in the roadstead at 2 a.m. yesterday, and entered the Pot about 1 p.m. From Auckland to Poverty Bay, strong westerly winds were experienced, and from there to port strong southerly. The Star ■will steam for the Thames and Auckland at 2 p.m. to-morrrow. The schooner Columbia, Capt. G. W. Conway, arrived from Kennedy's Bay yesterday morning, with 28,000 feet timber, and 20,000 shingles. The brigantine Swordfish arrived at Hobart Town,;|from Napier, on the 28th ult., after a good passage of 16 days. The brigantine J. Gh Ooleson, Captain Nealcs, left Newcastle, N.S.W., with a cargo Of coals for Mr. J. H. Vautier, on the 10th instant. She may now, therefore, be considered due, being 17 days out. The toarque Kohinoor took her departure for Sydney via Kaipara on Saturday evening. The sohooner Aapaaia is to sail for Lyttelton with 130 bales wool. ■» - SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. AUCKLAND. 24th April. The Star of;the South has sailed for Napier. The Whaling Company has resolved to repair their vessel, appoint fresh officers, and send her to sea again. They have made a call of 50s. per share. 27th April. The Coronet, from Tahiti, reports that the ship Durham, 1,400 tons, has been wrecked at the island of Wairotea. The captain and crew made their way to Papate, a distance of 700 miles, in an open boat, the thermometer during the voyage standing sometimes at 120 degrees. The wreck and cargo were sold for £BOO. . TAURANGA. 25th April. Arrived.—The Governor's yacht Blanche. WELLINGTON. 24th April. The*Rangatira has arrived from Napier and Poverty Bay, 27th April. A large ship is signalled outside, supposed to be the McCallum More. The Luna has gone to tow her in. LYTTELTON. . .'.', 24th April. The Rakaia, 86 days from Plymouth, has arrived. She brings 504 passengers, principally Government immigrants, but alser including ten saloon arid three second-cabin passenger?. There were eight births on the voyage,, ahd six deaths (children.) Both these vessels :belong te the New Zealand Shipping Company. PORT CHALMERS. 24th April. The Undine, ship, has arrived from London, after a passage of 84 days; she brings no passengers. She reports having spoken tht McCallum More, from Glasgow to Wellington, on March 8, in latitude 6 deg. 36 m. S., lat 25 deg. 38 m. W. BLUFF. 27th April. The mail steamer Omeo, Captain Calder, left Melbourne at 3 p.m. on the 21st instant, and arrived at the Bluff at 8 a.m. on the 27th. She brings 452 tons of cargo, 35 horses; 26 saloon passengers and 27 in the steerage, for all ports. SYDNEY. 21st April. The Challenger has been docked, and proceeds to New Zealand. The Tartar, with the mails, arrived at California prior to the 15th instant. MELBOURNE. f»/> , 21st April. The Cerberus will be docked on Wednes. day for eight hours. LONDON. l7th April.
