COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. CHRISTCHURCH. 18th March. The Customs Receipts yesterday amounted to £2,887, the largest amount ever received in one clay. MELBOURNE. 12th March. New Zealand fours are quoted at £92 ; Bank of New Zealand, £l7 to £lB ; buyers at £lB 15/. LONDON. 7th March. Wool.—The opening competition was well maintained in the wool market; the faulty descriptions slightly lower. Wheat is firmer, home deliveries are small, and foreign arrivals are inconsiderable. New Zealand Flax has slightly advanced. 9th March. A heavy fall in the price of coal in the maufacturing districts has taken place, and a reduction in wages commenced. 10th March. The exports to New Zealand amount to £319,100 for the month. The strike in the Nottingham lace trade terminated in a compromise. A number of large fires have lately occurred, involving considerable destruction of property.
