[from TEE ANGLO-AUSTRALIAN FEBSS TELEGEAM AGENCY.] AUCKLAND. Thursday, Nov. 28. The quarantine restrictions on mail steamers have been rescinded by the Board of health. The schooner Merlin has arrrived from Fiji, bringing dates to the 18th inst. FIJI (via Auckland). Monday, Nov. 18. A native boy having burned two houses, the property of Messrs Muir and Black ibid, has been sentenced to received forty lashes and to work tor two years on a European plantation. Tire tribe to which the boy belonged, being accessroy to the crime, will have to forfeit a piece of land to the sufferers. The chief of the tribe has been sentenced to receive fifty lashes. TiMABU. Thursday, Nov. 28. The adjourned inquest on the body of George Bkckall was held yesterday. The medical testimony of Drs Hammon and M‘luiyre went to show that de* ceased met his death from having been wounded over tha left ear. A verdict wilful murder against certain persons unknown. CROMWELL. Thursday, Nov. 28. Harding’s cottage was burnt to the around last night. Nothing whatever saved. The inmates barely escaped with their lives. PfOTON. Thursday, Nov. 28. The body found on the bench near Picton has been recognised as that of Bui rows, cook of the barque City of Newcastle. An inquest has been held upon it, and a verdict of found drowned relumed.
