In the Kesident Magistrate's Court this morning, a veteran drunkard was fined five shillings. We hear that it is provable the p.s. Luna will not proceed to Wellington before the middle of next week. The Auckland volunteers, and particularly the cadets, are making a name for themselves. They appear to be constantly at rifle practice at the Mount Eden range, but apparently that avails them little, for so wide of the mark do their bullets fly that, according to the Auckland papers terror reigns in the district, and life is absolutely in danger. The Evening Star, of a recent date, says:—"This morning a rifle bullet came through the bedroom, window of Mr W. J. Green, at Mount Eden, passed through the window blind and entered the wall, on the opposite side of the room. Five minutes before, Mr James E. Green had been fLanding at the dressing table, which stood right across the window and in the line of the bullet. Had he been in the same position at the time, the bullet would have entered his body."
