Another valuable addition will shortly be made to the Canterbury Museum in the shape of Etruscan and Roman antiquities, from the Royal Museum at Florence.
A Press Association telegram in the Wellington Independent, dated from Cbristclmrch, 28th ult, says :~" C. O. Montrose, manager of Oreville's Telegram Company, is now here, and talks of starting an evening paper." The following is from the Wellington Independent, Oct. 28 :—" An active trade has been done during the past monlh and stocks of many descriptions of goods have become low. Business appears to be more healthy than has been the case for *omc years past, and although from the increased competition profits are kept down to a minimum, our traders cannot have much reason to grumble, the absence of bad debts compensating for the reduction in their protUs,"
