AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Reports to Oct. 18.) [MESSRS. gUNTEE AND NOLAN-I Cattle ; There has been a very good supply and active demand, and pens of well-bred advanced a shade ia value. We quote dairy cows, i>s 10s to £7 7s 6d ; three and four-year-old steers from £5 to £7 12s 6d ; two-year old steers, £3 10s to .£4 5s ; yearlings, £1 15s to £2 2s 6d each. For fat beasts a good deal of spirit was manifested in bidding, and last week's quotations were fully sustained.

Sheep were in moderate supply, but, being principally ex Ocean Wave, from the Chatham Islands, they did not, owing to a rough passage, show to advantage, and consequently bidding lacked spirit, prices ranging from Is 9d to 2s 3d per 81bs. Lambs were plentiful, but of inferior description, and demand slack, selling at from 83 to 15s each, Pigs were in short supply, but of good description, and realised a marked advance,

During the past week store cattle of all kiods have offered in large numbers ; they met with a steady sale at fully late values. Dairy cows have been in limited numbers only, and without alteration in price. Fat cattle on Thursday were ia excess of requirements; 147 head penned. Bidding was very dull throughout the sale; best quality barely maintained last week's rates, and second quality were lower 2s 6d the lOOlbs ; 33 head were withdrawn. Fat sheep were in usual supply, and without alteration in values; 500 sold to the butcher. Pigs were unusually plentiful; for well-bred animals of medium weight full prices were obtained, but coarse aud large animals were at comparative low values. Lambs were in less numbers than last week, and with no improvement in price. Fat calves were unusually plentiful, but fairly maintained late values.
