[FfiOM GEETILIiJS'S TEHEOBAtt COMPANY.] WELLINGTON. PARLIAMENTARY INTELLIGENCE. Saturday, Sept. 28, The Financial Statement is considered satisfactory. The Distillation Act Amendment Bill and the Nelson Crown Lands Leasing Act Amendment Bill were read a second time. The House, after a long debate, decided to award Mr Smy tides .£IOOO compensation. The consideration of the Nelson Counties* Bill and the County of Westland Bill has been postponed until Wednesday. Comments are being made here on the fact that the Financial Statement shows a deficit of £33,000 on the consolidated fund instead of a surplus of £IO,BOO as represented by Mr Vogel; that only £107,000 was available for defence instead of over £158,000 ; and also that there is a deficit of £79,000 on the Immigration and Public Works account. In addition to the amount alreaJy raised, £150,000 will be re quired to complete the railways authorized by Parliament. The balance in. hand amounts to £89,500 and is suffi cient to carry on during the current year all the works-already contracted for, and push on the works authorized. A .sum of £23,000 is available for the water supply on Gold fields. A saving of £IO,OOO will be effected this year, and £25,000 next year. The Financial statement is approve*l of here.
