FROM GREVILLE'S TELEGRAM COMPANY WELLINGTON. Tuesday, An gust 13. Papers which have heen laid on the table of the House of Representatives, relative to the Matanra and Invercargill line of railway, show that Forest and Company, and Prou Ifoot, (Victorian contractors), offer to construct two hundred miles of railway annually at 12J per cent, below the engineers' estimate, and to deposit 2J per cent, as security for the due performance of the work : the contractors to receive progressive payments upon completion of each ten miles of the line. Notwithstanding this, the contract for the Invetcargill and Mataura Railway has been given to Mrßrogden at the estimate above-mentioned. The matter will come before the House.
