FROM GSWILLE'S TELEGRAM COMPANY Batter's Agents. WELLINGTON. JVlondav, June 17. Off Saturday, a rumor was current that a case of small-pox had occurred at the Te Aro end of the town. Inquiry into the matter showed that Mr Kaye, recently mail agent on board the ps. Nebraska, had been attacked with small-pox in a mild form. The Government immediately sent for Dr. Johnston, Health Officer, who advised the removal of Mr Kaye to the quarantine ground. Accordingly the patient, accompanied by two of the Armed Constabulary Force, and some medical comforts, were sen*, off. The patient acquiesced in his removal. Otherwise, in the absence of a Public Health Act, he must have remained at hi* own residence. The disease is only in a mild form. The Government bus instructed the Board of Health at Auckland to take precautions against the introduction of small-pox in vessels from San Francisco. The mail bags are in future to be fumigated.
