,The barque Ballarat, Capfc. Reynolds, left Auckland on Tuesday last, 21sfc in*t, and rounded the 2£ast Cape at noon on Friday. iPassed Portland Island at 5 o'clock on Saturday evening, and was made fust alongside the Government mooring in the Bay at 11 o'clock yesterday forenoon. Experienced strong and variable winds throughout the passage. The s s. Napier, Capt. Bendall, arrived in sort at 9.30 last evening, from Wairoa, which she had left at 4.30 p.m. We learn that she will leave again for Wairoa at 11 o'clock to-night. The clipper schooner Saucy Lass, Captain Smith, arrived in port at 1 o'clock this afternoon, bringing a large cargo of timber, shingles, and firewood. She left Auckland on the 20th inst., and Mercury Bay on the 23rd. Bounded the East Cape on the 25th, and passed the East Cape at 5 o'clock last evening, arriving here as above. Experienced light winds and fine weather throughout.—The Saucy Lass last left this port on the Bth inst, and has consequently made a smart trip to Auckland a::d back of 19 days, having callea in at Poverty Bay on her way up and at Mercury Bay on the downward trip. The s.s Keera is expected to leave Wellington for this port to-night, and is now advertised to steam hence on V\ edncsdny evening for Poverty Bay, Tauranga, and Auckland. The barque Alice was to hare left Auckland for New York on Tuesday last, with 4,37 a cases, 286 bags, and 2 tons kauri gum, 918 bales flax, and 160 bales tow. This cargo, the Auckland papers state, was placed on board in the short space of 1.2 days. The brigantine Magellan Cloud arrived at Auckland on the 17th inst., after a smart passage of 7 days. She was the bearer of a cargo of cattle, sheep, horses, wool, &c. The brig Oberlin, from Adelaide, with a large cargo of breadstuff- 1 , arrived at Auckland on the 16th inst. The barque Acacia, hailing from Hobart Town, has recently accomplished a remarkably quick passage, having mucin the run from Hobart Town to Duuedin and back in 28 days. At the latter poH she discharged 350 tonß of general cargo, and shipped 250 hides, besides balla-ting. A very slow voyage is noticed in a recent issue of the Ceylon Observer. It was that of the Astracan, from Galle to Colombo, a distance of some 80 miles. The vessel took 30 days on the run, and seems to have been looked upon as lost.
