Maori, s.s., for Wellington and Southern Ports, on or about Friday next, 17th instant The s.s. Ahuriri, Captain M'Kinnon, from Wellington and Southern Ports, was sig nailed shortly before we went to press this afternoon. The s.s. Star of the South took her departure for the Thames and Auckland at 5.30 this morning, conveying 60 head cattle and 400 sheep. As intimated in a former the Star will, this trip, be laid up in Auckland for the purpose of receiving new boilers and other alterations and repairs which, when com plctcd, cannot fail to make this steamer a still greater favorite. In the meantime, the want of regular steam communication between thiport and the northern metropolis will be much felt. We learn that it will be about the mid die of December before the Star will be again ready for sea. The s.s. Keera. hence for Wellington and ihe South on Friday evening last, did not reach the former port until 4.15 p.m. yesterday, the heavy southerly weather of the past few daj3 having caused the detention. We learn that the s.s. Maori wi'l not leave Wellington for this port until some time this evening, having been d tained by the Government for the purpose of conveying the Hawke's Bay members in the General Assembly to Napier. Consequent on this arrangement, the date of the Maori's departure for Wellington and the South has been altered to Friday next, 17th inst.
