We are informed that a novel manner of obtaining nourishment was observed yesterday on one of the hills adjoining the Shakespeare-road. A calf, evidently recently weaned, was busily engaged in sucking a mare—a proceeding which the latter quadruped seemed to regard with equanimity, for it offered no resistance to this young member of the bovine race. The question pf a national ay stem, of irrigation has been mooted by the East Moreton (Queensland) Agricultural Association. Legislative action in the matter cannot be expected for some time to come.
