Passed Portland Island at 7am yesterday, arrived in the roadstead at 6 last. jevening, and entered the Iron Pot early this morning. Experienced strong E and 8 E winds throughout, Cargo : 27,000 ft. timber and 20,000 shingles. The s.s. Star of the South, Capt. Hulmes, left Auckland at 6 p.m. on Tuesday last, 26th inst., and passed Mercury Island af 3 a.m. on Wednesday. Across the Bay of Plenty had light westerly wind with heavy northerly sea. Rounded the East Cape at 9 o'clock on Wednesday evening. From thence to Portland Island light variable winds, and strong B.W. from thence until arrival here at 7 o'clock last evening. She brought about 40 tons general cargo and 6 passengers The Star will take W departure for the Thames and Auckland at 7 P'*B> to mgrrow. The s.s. Ahuriri, Capt. M'Kinnon, left Dunedin atmidnig'.t on Thursday, 21st inst,, and arrived at Timaru at 7 a.m. on the 22nd; left at 6 p.m. the same day, and arrived at Akaroa at 4 a.m. on the 23rd j left at 6.30 and arrived at Lyttelton at 11 a.m.; left Lyttelton at 4 p.m. on the 25th ; experienced strong northerly winds to Wellington, where sjia, arrived at 8 p.m. on the 26th ; left Wellington at 9.15 pm. on Wednesday, 27th inst. j experienced fine weather on the passage, and arrived here at 8 o'clock last night. She brought a general cargo and several passengers.—The Ahuriri will steam for Welling ton and Southern Ports at 6 o'clock this evening. The ketch Why Not, Baxter, master, with a general cargo from Wellington, arrived in port last night. The s.s. Ktera, Capt. Carey, left Auckland at 5 : p.m. on Tuesday iaat, 26th inst,, and arrived at Tauranga at 9 am. on Wednesday. Left Tauranga at 3 30 p.m. the same day, and had a fine NW. breeze to Tologa Bay, when it veered to the south ward, and blew very hard for some time. Passed Portland Island at 3.30 this morning, and trough! up in the roadptead'at 9.3 Q. l " The brigantine Flirt leaves for Auckland this evening, with 70 tons potatoes. The fine new clipper schooner Janet Ramsay is advertised in la.te Dunedin papers to pail for this port on an early date.
