Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. THURSDAY, JULY 13, 1871.
We learn that the Havelock Express is now running again daily, as usual, to Napier and the Spii. The hon. the Native, and Defence Minister will, we hear, possibly take his departure for Wellington to-moirow in the Lord Ashley. Mails for Wellington and Southern Ports, per s.s. Lord Ashley, close a',, the phief Post Office at 9 a.m. to-morrow. In the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, the boy James Lewis was "brought up on remand, charged with iarpeny. Mr Scully stated that the prosecutor, Mr Adams, was still so ill as to be unable to appear. In reply to the Magistrate the boy said he was fifteen years old to-day. He was further refnanded till Monday. The adjourned case against the boy's father, John Lewis, was also to have been heard this morning, but the accused did not appear. His Worship said that he might perhaps have been delayed by the state pfthe roads or rivers, and adjourned j;he case to 3 p.m. to allow him a further opportunity of appearing.
