HOKITIKA.

Monday, July 10. The s.s. Oraeo, from Melbourne, ar rived in the roadstead yesterday; but the .sea was too high for her to be tendered. She signalled the words « Suez Mail," and then had to stand out to sea. It is supposed that she has the Suez mail telegrams on board, but there is no chance of tendering her today, as a mountainous sea is running.

The steamer Waipara, which left for Martin's Bay and intermediate ports a fortnight ago has not since been heard of. The weather during the whole time has been unsually boisterous. She is supposed to be safe, but weatherbound.
