Monday, June 12. The Permissive Bill has lapsed. It is thought probable that Parliament will be prorogued this week. The breadstuff's market is hardening, in consequence of the failure of the crops in California. It is reported that Earl Bel more will obtain the Governorship of the Pre»idency of Madras. The steamship Nebraska attracted much attention whilst here. She was visited by the Governor, members of Parliament and of the Corporation, aud thousands of citizens. The press are now advocating the San Francisco mail route. The schooner Calender has been wrecked at the Richmond river heads. John Fairfax, of the Sydney Morn ing Herald, has founded two piizes for female members of the University.
