Friday, June 9. Mr M'Kenzie, contractor of the tele graph line, arrived here yesterday with the poles. Encouragement from the natives has been given to him to extend the line to Sbortland, avoiding Ohiuemuri. Mr M'Kenzie tenders to the Government to exiend the line to the Thames for a given sum, and promises to find guarantees for effectually carrying out the work, thereby connecting the North of the Island with the South, A few days ago a messenger carrying Government telegrams from Cambridge to Rotorua was intercepted by some of the King's cavalry, headed by one of his executioners, who in quick time ordered the messenger back.
