Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. THURSDAY,JUNE 1, 1871. TE AUTE SCHOOL TRUST.

The following is. the Petition to the General Assembly, drawn up by the Select Committee appointed to consider the subject of the To Ante Schoot Trust, and adopted by the Provincial Council vesteiday : To the Honorable the House of Representatives: of the Colony of New Zealand in Session assembled : The Petition of the Provincial Council of Hawke's Bay respectfully sheweth : 1. That in the Third Report of the Religious, Charitable, and Educational Trusts Commission, bearing date 17th August, 1870, laid before your Honorable House last Session (Parliamentary Paper A., No. 3), the following passage occurs : "In all those (cases) of obvious failure it appears to the Commissioners that the only effectual remedy will be the removal of the Trustees. 2. That your Petitionets arc of opinion that the Trustees of the Te Aute School Estate have neglected to carry out the object for which the Trust was endowed, and that this neglect is clearly shewn in the Special Report of Mr. Hart, and tie; General Report of the Commission aforesaid.

3. That your Petitioners believe it is neeessaiy, in order to secure the fulfilment ol the Trust, that the present Trustees .should be removed and such provision made as will ensure the objects of the Trust being carried out. 4. Your Petitioners therefore pr&y your Honorable House will take early measures for removing, by means of legislation, the present Trustees of the said Te Ante Estate, and-for ..securing that the income of the Estate shall be devoted, as originally intended, in aid and supply of the Educational wants of the Province. And your Petitioners will ever pray.
