DUNEDIN.
Tuesday, May 9. The great mining case—The Extended. Company v. Hales—has closed after a five days' trial; the jury being discharged on Sunday without agreeing to a verdiot, after being locked up for eighteen hours. Peter Cameron, a teamster, was killed by his dray overturning yesterday.
The Government have ordered the survey of a line of railway from Athol to Kington, in order that the works may be sanctioned at the ensuing session of Parliament.
