A Thames correspondent of the New Zealand Herald, under date 7th April, writes :—Another of those accidents which have been of too frequent occurrence of late on the field, took place this morning a little after eight o'clock, in the mine known as the Ladybird and jHand in Friendship, Tararu. It appears that one of the workmen named Dennis Macguire, was filling up one of the upper stopes with mullock, and had occasion to remove one of the props, and in doing so a portion of the hanging wall came away and struck fciru on the calf of the right leg, causing a severe fracture. His fellow workmen at once extricated him from his dangerous position, and brought him down to the Hospital on a stretcher, where T)r Lethbridge, the house surgeon, immediately attended upon him, aud the poor fellow is doing as well as can be expected.
