Wellington is after all to have a patent slip. This we learn from an Evening Post, received per overland mail. A meeting of those interested was recently held in the Athenaeum there, when it was formally announced that Sir Charles Cliffoid, in conjunction with Mr George, were invested with full powers to act on behalf of the Messrs. Kennard, who were anxious to come to a satisfactory arrangement with a company for the purchase of the materials and plant introduced by those gentlemen some time ago. ,£22,000 was indicated as the probable cost of the above, which the Messrs. Kennard would take as shares, and another £I O,OOO would be required for the cost of erection. It was ultimately decided to form a company for the carrying out of the above; capital to consist of 3,700 shares of £lO each. Mr George had selected a site near Lisle Bay, which he considered as the best possible for the work.
