The reports of Hall's boats being subsi* ilised for two years are incorrect. Mr, Vowel has since oiade a contract with Messrs. Webb and Halliday for a postal service between San Franei9co and New Zealand. The first boat, the Nevada, leaves gan Francisco for Auckland on the 7th o? April; she will not go on to Australia, but by the following month arrangements will be made for connecting with Australia. The five prizes for the aggregate scores at the prize firing have ttlf been taken by Otago men —Wales, Ooldie, Wilson, "Reid, and Craiggie. Wales is the champion. The cadet prizes were won by Taine, Collie, and Ohnck.
The Caledonian claim got last week 11,460 ozs The Morning Star claim crushed 28 ozs'. from 80 tons.
