Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. THURSDAY, MARCH 16. 1871. PROVINCIAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS.
HAMPDEN. The polling took place on Tuesday, with the following result —Bridge, 15 ; Carlyon, 15. The cleclatation of the poll was to be made at noon to-day, when it was expected that the Returning officer would give his casting vote for Mr Bridge. PETANE. The polling for this district took place yesterday, and resulted in the return of Mr Routledge, the numbers being Routledge, 11; Towgood, 7. The day w r as most unfavorable; high winds prevailing, with heavy rain, which possibly kept many electors at home.
