Miss Edith Palmerstox arrived in Napier to day by the Star of the South from Auckland. Resident Magistrate's Court.— This morning the case of Hawes v. Marshall was disposed o£ as reported elsewhere. The Volunteer Artillery Band gave a performance at 8 p.m. yesterday, on the open space opposite the Herald office. The programme was well selected, and the pieces were well played. A very huge audience were assembled, and the performance gave great satisfaction. A few dances took place on the grass to the music of the band, and a party of juveniles found pleasure in letting off fireworks among the audience.
