We take the following from a late Nelson Colonist: —Mrs S titer, who accompanied Bishop Si iter on a visit to Haraner Plains, narrowly escaped drowning lately in one of the Hot Springs. These are situated some distanee from the Accommodation House, and Mrs Suter, accompanied by the wife of the keeper of the house, rode to the springs for the purpose of bathing. "While bathing, she got put of her depth, jind would have been drowned but for t\\e bravery of her companion, who, in her riding-habitji and at great peril to herself, plunged into the water, and, with no/ little difficulty, rescued Mrs Suter, had by this time lost consciousness. Mrs Suter was afterwards resuscitated, and with difficulty was gqftyeyed to the house!
