p BO yi|f.OIAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF CLIVB. The nomination for the district of Clive took place yesterday. After the necessary forms had been complied with, the following nominations were made— Andrew Hamilton Russell. Proposer, Mr J. Allanach; seconder, Mr E. Smith. Joseph Rhodes, Proposer, Mr R Burrows; seconder, MrT. Neagle. A show of hands was taken with the following result:— Russell 10 Rhodes o The show of hands being declared to be ia favor of the former candidate, a poll was demanded on behalf of Mr Rhodes, by his proposer and seconder. Nominations.- The nomination of candidates for the Havelock district was to take place this day; and that for Te Ante is fixed for to-morrow. Petane Election.—We are informed that one of the candidates for the representation of this district in the Pro vincial Council—Mr "W. Routledge—has retired from the field. Town Election. —To-morrow will be polling day—from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In thid evening's issue will be found biief addresses to the electors from two of fhe candidates, Messrs. Colenso and Britten. Mr Colenso promises to address the electors personally on polling day; and Mr Britten announces that he will, if elected, devote special attention to the interests of the working classes.
