WELLINGTON.

Friday, Feb. 24. The cricket match between Wanganui and Wellington created great interest;. The weather was beautiful. The Wanganui score, first innings, was 103; second, 46. Wellington, first innings, 64; second, 21. The stumps were drawn at 5.30 p.m., Wellington being in with one wicket to go down. Wanganui won in the first innings. Saturday, Feb. 25. The Governor to Mr Gisborne : " B'igh Sound. The Clio this morning struck on a rock not laid down in the charts. The leak is io serious that the water can scarcely be kept under by the pumps. The vessel wiJl probably have to be careened, and shall be detained at the anchorage (Bounty Haven) several weeks. Dr. Hector goes overland by Martin's Bay with the telegram. There is, thank God, no damage ; the stores, &c, will be landed; and the repairs proceeded with at once. We reached Milford Sound on the 11th, having been delayed by bad weather, which prevented as from visiting Hokitika. We stayed at Milford Sound till the morning of the 17th; made surveys, &c. Pray inform your colleagues and the public."

The Premier to the Press :—" Dr. Hector forwards the above from Queenstown to go on to Dunedin by coach, I presume this day. Was some days (number not intelligible) en route, two lost by weather. Probably after preliminary repairs the Clio will go round to Port Chalmers to be docked, if the dock is capable of taking her in. W. Fox."
