AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Report to January 27.) [MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN.] HoBSES: The market has been depressed, and transactions limited. On Saturday about the usual number offered at auction, but there a lack of spirit in the bidding, and sales are limited. There is an unsatisfied enquiry for good upstanding young horses, which might be placed at fair figures. We quote hacks from £4 10s to £8 15s; light draught Ijorses from £9 to £l4 15s. Cattle: There has not been quite so much activity in the market as for the last two months. About the average number of dstore stock offered, but the demand was not quite so good as tho previous week. The fiairy cows offered continue of inferior description, with but little upward tendency in prices. Eat beasts were in moderate numbers, but an was evinced by the trade to purchase except for immediate requirements, at priqes ranging from 27s 6d to 30s per 100 lb?. Iteiry cows sold from £7 5s to £8 10s each j yearlings and calves from £L 10s to £3 l&s each $ two and three year old steers, from p7s6dto£6 s^.
