Monday, Jan. 23. Everything is quiet. The deputation to the king at Tokangamutu has not yet returned. The Hon. Mr M'Lean left Maketu on Friday for Opotiki. Mr Hamlin, li.M., has been successful in quieting the Arawas. Mr M'Lean is expected to-day. The steamer Samson has been laid up by older of the Melbourne owners. Mr M'Lean has had an interview with the natives. Firm but successful.
