AUCKLAND.
Friday, Jan. 20. The unemployed last night presented a petition to the Provincial Council. The Council hastily passed the Kaipara Kailway Bill for the purpose of providing work. His Excellency the Governor leaves tomorrow in H. M.'s ship Virago for Wellington, touching at several native settlements on the East Coast. Commodore Stirling then takes the Governor in H.M.'s ship Clio to Milford Sound, Martin's Bay, and other inlets on the south-western coast of the Middle Island. The Clio afterwards conveys the Governor to the Bluff, after which they-intend visiting Lake Wakatipu, the gold-fields, and the interior of the Provinces of Otago and Canterbury, proceeding also to Hokitika and the interior of Westland County. The jkour is expected to occupy about two mmiths. In April or May Lady Bowen intends removing to the new Govemmenjb House, Wellington, Arrived—Hero, from Sydney. Sailed—-James Patterson, for Sydney
