Thursday, Jan. 19. Last night Sir David Munro addressed the electors of Motueka. The meeting was very largeiy attended. He criticised unfavorably the Government policy of finance and protection. The meeting carried, all but unanimously, a resolution in favor of Sir David's candidature. Mr Shepherd addressed the city elec-* tors the same evening. He greatly disappointed his friends, who complain thac he was not outspoken. He was prepared to give a qualified support to the Government. He will be opposed if any eligible candidate can be found.
