Tuesday, Jan. 17. The Provincial Council has voted ,£29,000 for the Kaipara railway. Waikato advices state that Mr Parris told the natives that Government woulpl not. fight about the murder of Mr Todd. The Wild Duck has arrived from Fiji. She reports that, while at Santo, a boat, containing the master, Morrison [Martin?] and two of the crew, Irwin and Winter, went ashore ? un-
armed. When there they were attacked by 150 natives, and the whole party murdered. The natives tried to board the vessel, bulb failed for want of wind. Arrived—Rangatira, from Taranaki; Wild Duck and Clyde, from Fiji. Sailed —Go-ahead, for Napier; Kiwi, for Fiji. Wednesday, Jan. 18. The Provincial Council last night parsed the Permissive Clause in the Licensing Bill. It applies both to the wholesale and retail traffic.
