District Court.—We are requested by the Judge of the District Court that though the sitting of this Court is fixed for -the 2nd January, in consequence of that day being a general holiday it will be merely formal, and will be immediately adjourned. Summoned jurors are therefore informed that they need not attend until Thursday, the oth January, at 10 a.m. The English Mail via San Francisco will he despatched hence per Lord Ashley to-uiori ow, —closing at the Chief Post (Mice at 10.30 a.m. As, however, the Taranaki will be leaving here for Auckland direct on Wednesday next, 4th hist, it is very prohable that a plementary mail will be made up and forwarde/i by that opportunity. Colonial Prize Firing.—This morning the competition between the different company representatives took place at the lange on the Meanee flats Owing probably 10 ihe range being strange to the men, as well as the unfavorable weather, the .shooting was indifferent. The highest score was made by J. Dinwiildie, Napier Militia, who scored 38 point* This Province will, therefore, be unrepresented at tfre foiincoming prize firing.
