High Westerly Winds have prevailed nearly all dt»y, and there is every appearance of rain as we go to press. New Insolvent.—Michael Hebden, carpenter, of Napier, filed -iMa schedule ■to-day. Resident Magistrate's Court.— Yesterday, a man named Austin was charged with having been unlawfully on the premises of Alexander Dalziell, of the Albion Hotel, at 6 a.m. that day. It appeared that the defendant, who had been drinking over night, had walked upstairs into a bedroom (which he had formerly occupied) and commenced washing himself. On being ejected he caused a disturbance.—Ca*e dismissed. An application for a rehearing of a lale case, made bv the defendant, Paora Torotoro, was granted, the circumstance being as follows : Some time since defendant was sued for a debt by Mr Peacock, and, not appearing, judgment went by default, policeconstable Raven deposing that the summons had been duly served. A distress warrant was afterwards issued, and Paora having driven into town yesterday, an officer of the Court took advantage of the oppoitunity, and distrained his gig Paora then applied for a rehearing on the ground that the summons had not been served, and upon his making affidavit to that effect the application was granted by the Resident Magistrate—the re-hearing to take place this day week. [We intend giving a full report of this case to-morrow.] —No cases this morning.
