The Escaped Prisoners.—We are glad to report that one of the escaped prisoners --Hammond, under sentence for rape—has been recaptured. The particulars are as follows : —William Motley, Mr J. D. Ormond's orderly, was out on business yesterday, and was riding on the Middle road, a little beyond Havelock, about 8 p.m., when he overtook the prisoners Dureen and Hammond. They were on foot, *welldressed, and were smoking meerschaum pipes—part of the proceeds of the late robbery at Havelock. One of them remarked to Motley, " T think I know you," to which he replied, " And I think I know you." He kept in their company until they met another person on the load, when he called upon them to surrender. They immediately took to their heels ; Dureen jumped across a creek and made off up the mountain, and Hammond attempted to do the same, but insteading of. clearing the creek fell into it, when he was at once seized, by Motley, who brought him to town. He arrived with his prisoner about 2 o'clock this morning, and saw him delivered into safe custody. Hammond states that on reaching terra Jirma on the evening of their escape, the prisoner Williams possessed himself of the revolver -and carbine taken irom the keepers, and parted from the others, saying, "You take your way, and J will take mine."
