Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1870.

A QUANTITY of printing material ar- [ rived by the Rangatira to-day—the i plant, we presume, of the projected " Daily Telegraph." Napier Rifle Volunteers.—The usual monthly inspection parade of the above. corps took place last evening There was an average attendance of members, and the different evolutions were creditably performed. The band was in attendance, and played several popular airs. After parade, a meeting of the company was held in the Masonic Hall, to consider business affecting the interests of the corps. Amongst other things, two new members were added to the ranks of the company, and it was arranged that a picnic should be given on Boxing Day, the locality not being decided upon. Cheap Excursion Trip.—We would draw the attention of the public to an advertisement in another column, announcing that the s.s, Rangatira will steam for Wellington to-morrow, and on the 22nd inst. will make a cheap excursion trip from Wellington to Picton—fares, 7s 6d, —returning to Napier on the 23rd inst. Resident Magistrate's Court.— This morning the court was occupied with a civil action— Stiffe v. Fisher. Plaintiff, who resides in Chiistchurch, sued in the character of trustee in the estate of Hill & Fysli for £3B 3s 6d for goods supplied to the estate of Hill, of which defendant was tnistee. The plaintiff did not appear, and was not represented by counsel. Defendant pleaded that he was not liable, and explained that in the case of the amount sued for, the bankrupt had acted on his own responsibility, without reference to the trustee*. Mr Fisher's evidence in the matter was taken down, in order that a might be forwarded to the Resident Magistrate's Court at Christchurch. Auckland Live Stock Market. — Mr Buckland, under date 11th jSTovem. ber, reports draught horses, secondary quality, £l4 to .£23; best dairy cows, improved rates £lO to £l2 ss; medium, from £5 15s. Young cattle, moderate supply, low prices. Fat cattle, rather short supply, 30s per 100 lbs.— 2s 6d improvement on preceding week. Fat sheep, short tupply better worth; shorn, 2Jd per lb. Fat lambs, very plentiful; maintained last week's prices till near close of sale. Shorn store sheep, low condition, 2s 9d to 4s ; Leicester ewes and lambs in wool, 17s 6d per couple; ewe hoggets, 14s; store lambs, 2s to 2s 9d. Pig*, 2d per lb., live weight.
